Does anyone know where I can get the little resin insert that snaps into Campy FD? I have a 2006 Record FD. I have seen a couple when I Googled it but the description stated it was a for converting a 9 speed FD to work with 10 speed components. Is this the correct part?

Thanks

Yep.....and I have used a 9's FD with 10's chain without the insert. I wouldn't fret over not having one.

I believe it is for using it with an 8 speed chain since you don't need to remove it to use a 10 speed derailleur with a 9 speed chain. I've been using a 9 speed campagnolo chain with 10 speed derailleur for several years and it worked fine however when I tried the 8 speed chain I did have to remove the insert.

From what I can tell of the comments pretty much campagnolo fixed the 8 speed design to work with 9 and 10 then.

That's what I think also. Early 10's front deailleurs were just the existing FD's with an insert. They work w/o insert also.

Not needed for 9s or 10s Fders, sometimes falls out, breaks, no need to replace. First found on Fders and 10s chains that used the permalink, 2000/2001. Campag was worried a poorly adjusted FD would rub on the push in pins of the permalink, causing chain breakage..so the wee plastic thingy. permalink went away(hooray, still have the tool) but the plastic thingy remained.

For all ERGO until 2009 and even with most of them, ANY FD will work with 8s, 9s, 10s, didn't matter since the LH lever was 'ratcheting friction' type. I have even used shimano Fders with ERGO, it just doesn't matter. Included are QS or non-QS, doesn't mater.
