Just put on an older pair of shimano 6401 pedals that a buddy gave me(yes, I'm old school, like the red delta cleats). They are in almost new condition.

Anyone know how to calibrate the release tension between the two pedals or is is just trial and error? The left feels slightly looser than the right...i assume the tension adjustment is the allen screw on the bottom of the pedal??

Any advice appreciated.

if they are anything like the modern shimano pedals then yes it uses an allen to adjust the tension on the bottom front of the pedal. righty tighty lefty loosy. I would suggest backing off all tension and going from there. The modern ones make a clicking sound. if yours click too then just count the clicks.

I believe if you back off all the tension the screw will fall out and you will be rebuilding/cursing the pedals.
I think tightening all the way then backing out the same amount would be the way to go. If they are like current pedals.
