My much beloved Jonny single speed frame just cracked around the seat stay bridge, and I need to get it repaired. The main problem is that Jon Kendziera is not building any more. The two local (Philadelphia area) builders I can think of are Engin and Bilenky. I already called Wissahickon Cyclery and they said that Drew doesn't do repair work on other people’s frames, and that Bilenky has a very long waiting list for repairs.

My question is... does anyone have a good recommendation for a lugged frame repair? Thank you in advance!

Barn barn barn.

I called Tom about raising the brake bridge on my Mexican Lager. I figured they wouldn't really be interested in a job which involves sort of painstaking, low-profitability work, with repaint required.

To my surprise, Tom was very enthusiastic about doing the job, the estimate was better than reasonable, and I was genuinely impressed with the customer service. He suggested the wait would be 4-6 months though, so you'd need a beater frame to ride in the interim.

But Spectrum or Bilenky would be my choices in the nabe.

I had a frame repaired by Bilenky so I'm not sure I can be of much help. They did do a very good job and I think it only took about 3 weeks.

Thank you for your feedback. I'll try to call Spectrum and Bilenky this week and find out about getting the repair work done.

Ask to aaron Dykstra at 611bicycle co in VA, he might have some time but who knows, he is getting pretty well known and probably he doesnt have time now for repairs.

The other guy is a small shop in MD that I really cant remember right now, he is near DC metro so would be closer for you too..i believe is in frederick, i heard about him in another forums, since he does small jobs probably he will have more time available for a repair like that. Maybe somebody knows who im talking about?

I would suggest Simon Firth, he used to work at Bilenky for 14 years and he has done all kinds of repair.

He is in Philadelphia.
