Did you like it because you thought it was worth something or did you like it because you did (do) like Lance Armstrong?

If it's the former, get over it...it's a cycling jersey.
If it's the latter, what's the problem???

I am interested I met him when he raced iron kids in the 80 's .nice kid back then
I pointed which way to go for him in (Busch gardens they ran through the park). I told mrs fixed that last night she told me maybe I should have pointed in the other direction :).

It's only worthless if you want it to be.
Its worth as a gift should be greater than its market worth, no matter what its market worth is worth.

Since there are already 4 or 5 takers, appears it is not too worthless. ;)

Don't sell it. Think of it as the beginning of a collection. You could pick up a Bonds' baseball. Maybe one of those iPod cases made from Madoff's clothes or a Scott Rothstein watch.

I'll take it too! Not worthless to me at all.

I'd be interested too. Even if he was doping, he was better than the other 197 dopers in the peloton 7 times in a row.

I am hanging on to my various signed jerseys.

Lance signed US Postsl jersey
Lance, Bob Roll, and Davis Phinney signed Ride for the Roses jersey
Tyler signed CSC jersey
Plus a couple of others

As I said elsewhere, the stories and memories attached to them still have value to me.

I'd keep it Smiley - unless it really no longer has any meaning to you - in which case you've got several folks who still would treasure it

Well, with this level of interest, you're better off putting it on Ebay and posting a link to the auction.

I would keep it.

I have a Winning magazine that was signed by Lance, Bobby Julich and Gorge Hincappie when they were first year pros. The mag is not going anywhere. Not because the mag will be worth something anytime. Not because i have any sentimental value for it.

I would not get rid of the mag because i like bike racing and that was as close as i could get to it at the time. Plus...they were the rising stars.

I believe that Lance took drugs...as did others. I still believe that...drugs or no drugs...he was still the best of his day and he blew the rest away. Plus, he cured his own cancer and gave hope to others. I give him credit for that, regardless.

You should keep it. That's one legitimately obtained and untainted maillot jaune. One of the few in at least 20 years, possibly ever. :)

Worthless, because you had planned to sell it for profit at some point?

Stripping his titles doesn't turn this all into fiction. He still rode all those TDF's and won them.

I don't get it.

would the former winner of the Tour de France Lance Armstrong be correct?

Ex winner, like Ex marine. Only those who were fired were 'ex' marines..all others are former Marines.

We'll see if the international governing bodies and 'owner' of the TdF removes his name. No guarantee they will. USADA sure can't do this alone.

I have signed stuff from Tyler, Floyd, even Ullrich, not gonna throw them away. Have lotsa signed stuff from Eddy, who popped positive. I have a Lance signed jersey(Discovery, I think, in the shop), i'm not going to throw it away or sell it.

Keep it.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda sold it after the 2005 TDF.
Oh well.
@ this point, definitely hang onto it, like, for decades.
Right now you couldn't give it away, but well into the future, after everybody else has burned/trashed them, you'll have one of the few...

Ironically, the jersey may have increased in value due to the scandal. Factors that play into value include scarcity (he's likely to be only the second yellow jersey winner stripped of his titles), and notoriety, among others.

For collectors who don't know Merckx from Coppi -the bigger the scandal surrounding Armstrong the more potential value to the jersey. It will attract a much bigger pool of potential collectors. I'd bet Armstrong fans who are cyclists or have some connection to his foundation and are unhappy with his sanctions might be more motivated to have an item that affirms to them his victories and the narrative that inspired them.

Just, from the start of this thread I bet the value has increased over what you would have got in the forum classifieds before the thread or before the sanction :)

Keep it as a warning to future generations.

He won seven Tours on a level, EPO-soaked, playing field.

Maybe our kids will race in a cleaner sport.

Or, maybe people will start doping for Cat 1 and 2 races, and then Cat 3, and then Cat 4. But hopefully the former.
