Fully sloping fork crown like that shown in the 1st pic is a thing of beauty. Not as elegant as the original Cinelli fully sloping fork crown where the fork blades go over the crown but still prettier than any blob-looking carbon fork crown.

Love the Aeta. Stainless Columbus XCR beauty. Anyone know how much they go for? Is it in the Pegoretti echelon?

Not really, thats how it should be in classic 75 degrees italian/european building. That frame is like a 58 and I really love it.

Wonder if this manufacturer is one of the lasts old school italian builders that maybe still in business. Is he still in business right?

How much is this asking for a frame? like 5000 bucks or so? The aluminum track one rocks.

I bought one of the lugged / chromed frames last year. I think the price was under $1400 with shipping and some customs charges. Very reasonable I thought.

Pellizzoli's front man was easy to communicate with by email and quite responsive. The delivery took about three months.

The frame is beautiful. Mine is a mint toothpaste color which looks great with the yellow decals. The paint quality is good -- not great, but respectable given the price and considering that my benchmark is a guy named Bell. I was a little annoyed that the frame had to be faced and chased, including the bottle mounts. I also had trouble getting my rear wheel mounted -- stays were cozy. But again, you get what you pay for and I think the frames are a great value given the classic lugged goodness of the frames and the fact that Pelizzoli built Ciocc frames when Italian steel bikes set the bar.

I ordered a standard 48 cm frame. They will do custom too. Geometry is traditional race geometry. Whatever that is. It ain't no Roubaix.

The ride is what you would expect from a new Columbus SLX steel frame. It is stable and plush, with great control. It is nimble too and doesn't make my lousy climbing and more lousy. It rides and fits very much like my Colnago Olympic. Alloy Veloce and Challenge gumwalls complete the modern retro package and help smooth out the ride.

The frame is not quite in the league of the top US custom builders, but it is a great value and was built into a beautiful, capable bike that has more than a little piece of cycling history attached to it.

This SL tubed Corsa GP was less than $1k new last year.

Wow nothing bad, IMO the best builders and painters are here in the US the problem is that they are booked for years and their prices are way up there.

Wish I was younger, single and with a darn track near by or I would put my hands in one of his track bikes, they look good. Very classic italian racing built, looks like the last track bike i got built when i was racing... at least i know who has it, the problem is that probably is destroyed right now :/

That is not correct. The best publicized brands with multi-year waiting lists amount to only two names: Vanilla and RichardSachs. That these two have waiting lists where the wait is in years has been known for years. The vast majority of builders are not booked for years. Most of their prices are extremely reasonable.

I am amazed that more cyclists don't commision bikes/frames from the many talented USA builders.

most of the guys i've checked out locally like Hunter and Retrotec still take around a year (this was a while back though). This may sounds stupid especially for custom but gee I could not wait that long! The other problem is that there are so many good builders to choose from.

Because almost no US builders will build you a custom lugged steel frame for $1000. Yes, if I had 3K to plop down on a new frame and didn't want to wait more than a few months, there are still plenty of frame builders in the US I could turn to.

Fuzzalow there you have 2 reasons. I have to highlight, custom paint and building in the US is the best i have seen so far around the world. The builders have to make a living out of it and darn... when the cue list goes back 6 months to 2 years it kind'a makes you think, thats why 3 months for an italian builder is not bad at all specially when the price will go down maybe a half.

I have my pick of an american builder for example just because i have seen his job personally but darn i can't afford it at all. And the last time I checked his cue list was way back 8 months, probably he is managing a year long waiting list by now.

Oh well :) thats life :) Doubt I will get a custom steel bike ever so I'm destined to get only used frames hehehe :) happy anyways :D
