Check out the Liquid Logic Versa Board which can be paddled as a sup and also as a kayak. Has a built in wheel on the stern and can accessorize with a seat as well. Great diving and all 'round all day platform. I've run class II rapids, to overnight camping, to the all day kids on the lake with this board and it handles it all with ease and class. They can be found for about $600 new online at mountainmanoutdoors in NY

Paddleboards, or standup paddleboards (SUP)? Both disciplines now have their own race across the Molokai channel. I've spearfished, deep sea fished, surfed, paddled all my life, and can say the Ocean can give you something bicycling can never give.

You are my new hero
Sup I can't do because of dizziness reason I can't ride .mrs fixed thinks a sit on board would be fun for me since I was a swimmer most of my life ..
I have a lot to learn but I am near some beautiful beaches and nice fishing areas .
A new adventure awaits me .
Cheers :). Thank you

I haven't been around for a while, and only recently figured out you are not riding anymore.

I would suggest looking at the ocean as more than an adventure, although adventure it can surely provide. I was raised with the love, respect, and thirst for knowledge of the ocean in the ways of the ancient Hawaiians. Have spent all my life studying it both above and below the surface. My father made this knive for me to butcher sashimi grade Ahi. My uncle handed down this speargun handle, with which my father taught me how to feed myself at the age of 4.

I've had three debilitating injuries spread out over the last 30 yr, and the ocean was pivotal in helping me through the first two. The ocean can teach you about your own mortality and if you really listen, with that knowledge comes strength. The ocean can heal both physically and spiritually.

Fixed, I've tried several sup's and by far the most stable I've been on was the yolo yak, looks similar to the liquid logic.

I agree with Keith. I think a sit on top ocean kayak would be a better choice for fishing and diving. They are quite stable, fairly fast and have room for a good amount of gear and no more cost than a stand up board.

Butch,
You need to talk to our buddy Eric. He has gone over the edge and spends more time on the water than on his bike. His knowledge of boards is pretty extensive.

I tried sup on Father's Day for the first time. I was in the intercoastal so the water was pretty stable and the board was for a beginner, also stable and it was fun but I suspect it would take a while to be comfortable on the ocean even in a light chop. That Versa board is a nice option with the ability to paddle like a kayak. For the ocean, I much prefer my sit on top Ocean Kayak. Very stable and room for lots of gear. It is also pretty comfortable with a seat for hours. I have not tried to dive off it yet but will one of these days. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Paddling is one my favorite things. Joe Bark, Craig Richmond and Eaton make some top quality boards. I never competed in open class, but 10'6 sprint boards are a lot of fun, and great for playing in the surf too. Go talk to some lifeguards near you and see if they'll let you try a board one morning, most should be pretty accommodating.

Fixed -- That was pretty crazy. BTW, the Yak board is a good one too. I've used both the Frenzy and Yak in the ocean and river.
