just came across this ad in the local craigslist http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/bid/3186111228.html one of those too good to be true ads. so i contact the seller thinking he's local. and here's his response.

I'm a dealer casino on a cruise ship and test driving will be very hard and very uncomfortable for me to arrange it... In this situation, I think that the best way for both of us to make this deal is that you receive the bike by shipping.
The bike will be shipped from Great Falls, MT and my final price is $2,700 with shipping/handling included.
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using Google Checkout services. They will offer us the possibility to close the deal successfully without being necessary to waste our time.

This service will offer you:
-Inspection period for buyer (24 hours for inspection with the bike at your location) before you decide to buy the bike or not.
-Shipping company will be created by ISL ( Integrate Shipping Limited ) I think it's the best way to ship a bike, it will be delivered by container directly at your door.
-Secure & safe payment method.
-The bike will come with all documents.

So if you agree with what i stated above, please email me back with your full name and your shipping address (where do you want to receive the bike) and phone #

almost no broken english and sounds sincere. So then i did a bing search and found all the places it's listed on craigslist and even though the bike is in Montana he's not listing it there. He might be sincere but selling a $10k bike for $2700 is bit of a stretch.

stay away... when they have that many details on payment and arraging shipping, its a scam... they'll try to swap payment once things start...

as a side, I've never heard of/used google for a payment? is that legit?

and that is not legit english...

when in doubt, ask lots of specific questions and ask for photos... if htey can't produce, its not real...

In addition to what bikerboy said, suggest that you have a friend in the seller's area come to look at the bike, and pay in cash if the bike looks in order.

Too good to be true... It's worth 3x more than that... They keep trying, and people desperate for a great deal keep wanting... Too obvious

Even if the price weren't outrageously low, the wording is something I've seen many times in many variations. It stinks.

"I am shocked, shocked to find that there are scams going on in Craigslist."
"Your Di2 Cannondale, sir."
"Oh, thank you very much."

The only way I would do this deal is Face to Face. Ask the seller to contact you when he will be available to show you the bike in person and if he declines the idea with excuses you move on.
