View Full Version : Rapha bibs PAD - any other brand use it?

I've been trying out some Rapha bibshorts with their 30 day return policy. Have been trying two sizes, L and XL, since I've never worn them before. On a 50 mile ride last Saturday, my shoulders were sore from the Large bibstraps. Not completely sure the XL will solve that - it feels ok on shorter rides, but I don't know how it will feel after a few hours. But the short pad was sublime. By far, it is the nicest pad I've ever used.

So I'm wondering, since Rapha doesn't make a 'half-short' w/o the straps, does any other company use that exact pad in their shorts?

Appreciate any info.

Thanks,

Thom

I think it is the same as or very very similar to the Assos Mille chamois.

I have read in several cycling periodicals that Rapha uses the same pad supplier as Assos.... Doesn't get much better than that....

Cytech EIT pad, used by Assos too, I believe.

Get a pair of these (http://www.rapha.cc/womens-shorts-1) and report back about the fit. :)

Looks like Cytech makes their own shorts too.

Try Pactimo. The Rapha pad looks exactly like the one pactimo uses on their best short.

Cytech makes lots of off the shelf pads for many different clothing companies.

The Assos while made by Cytech is different and exclusive to Assos.

Gore uses cytech pads in their higher end shorts...they seem to be similar to the pads in rapha shorts...at least to me

Obviously, a lot of makers use Cytech E.I.T. pads in their bibs...

To pile on, my favorite bibs are Capo Veronas and they use one of the E.I.T. pads as well.

I've never seen Rapha bibs, and the website doesn't show a clear pic of the pad (just an arty partial shot), but if you look at the pad in your bibs and compare it to the Cytech website you should be able to match it up. Then, you can choose bibs from another manufacturer with the same pad.
