For those who haven't read the book, it is well worth it. The movie is much more of a feel good Hollywood style take. The book is very dark but a great glimpse into this rider's life.

Never read ther book but saw the movie. he made the governing body at his speed reccord atttempt out to be a bunch of Nazi's but IMO they were correct to disqualify him on his oddball bike. I'm talking about his long reach handlebars in his first attempt.

IMO tHis guy is an example of a non understood genius.

SO far they laugh at him before, probably many are laughing a him now but since he was able to do it before, why he wouldn't be able to do it now?

Hope he makes it with this wild design.

Why was banning the new style of riding correct to be disqualified? Odd looking or not it was innovative and game changing. The book goes into much more detail about the banning of his style (happened twice, I believe) that the movie just dramatizes.

Agreed.

There's a very interesting profile of him in "The Bicycle Book", by Bella Bathurst, which apprarently fills in some details that may have been missing from the earlier book or movie.

I'm thinking the exact opposite, he just seems like a genius to me, though I am just as excited to watch. Wonder if I can squeeze it in....

You really think that was oddball, but Moser's was normal?
