I haven't been spending much time here lately; we've been super busy with a bunch of new products / projects. I thought you all might like to take a look at what we've been up to here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9856980@N02/

Enjoy!

Hi Kirk!

I love the PL23 rim - kinda the return of the Bontrager Weinmann's!

Wow! Those PB fork crowns are real beauts. Worth building a bike around.

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was shooting for with this rim. Peter Weigle has been rocking them tubeless for a while and really likes them.

Are the the 23 rims available for sale in 700c. I am a big believer in that rim width.

Sam,

Sure thing. We have the PL23 x 700c in 28*, 32* and 36* versions to boot.

How do these compare to the HED offerings? Those were my basis of design on all wheels going forward, but then they stopped selling the rims to wheel builders.

From a width perspective, they will be very similar and produce an identical or better tire profile. (better = bigger - because of larger distance between the bead hooks)

However, the PL23 not nearly as tall as the HED rims so they are likely to give up a bit of stiffness, all else being equal. That said we have another rim, the SL23, in the works that should be very comparable to the HED's (semi-aero profile) and available in the next 3-4 months. We may offer this rim in lower spoke counts as well.

PS: The PL23 was specifically designed for bikes like your Weigle... they are also perfect for CX bikes and vintage restorations.

Are the PL23's going to be available in other colors? Or is silver going to be the only option?

There has been some interest in a black version... If demand justifies it, we will happily do it.

This set was accidentally anodized black! Thoughts?
