Looking for the next bag to carry computer and daily work stuff. Have used Baileyworks and RE Loads bags and thinking of trying something different.

Anyone with experience with Rapha shoulder bag or Brooks Barbican bag?

I enjoy and use the work of Chrome and of Mission Workshop. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.

After over a decade of using the (same) Baily Works Super Pro (http://www.baileyworks.com/professional/super-pro/options/) I've recently downsized to a Mission Workshop Sanction (http://missionworkshop.com/products/bags/backpacks/rucksack/sanction.php). Really happy with it so far.

I have a friend that owns MANY different bags.

I call him the Imelda Marcos of bags. I'm not kidding
he must have 300 bags.

He uses the brooks, in fact he told me if he would have bought the brooks first, he wouldn't own all the rest. Me, I laugh at him, and shake my head.
But he does use the brooks more than the rest.

i've had a number of bags over the years, but the past few years, i've been carrying an Osprey bag to work. it's a good day-to-day bag, and i find the pockets and compartments are in all the right places. seems to be pretty durable. it wouldnt be a very good bag to be on the bike with, but could do so occasionally; more of an urban carry bag, than a true bike messenger bag. Osprey is a good company with a solid warranty - add to that i bought it at REI, which means they will take it back if anything EVER goes wrong with it. cant lose IMO.

Are you looking for a bag to use on the bike or just an everyday bag?

Edit: Attached is my daily bag. It is a Saddleback Classic Large Breifcase. It is the older style, lined with suade and is very durable, keeps the rain out, fits my lunch, gym clothes, books, laptop...pretty much whatever you want. Anyway, I really like it. I have used it every work day and for vacation travel for the last 6 months and am glad I made the decision.

I bought a lightly used one and saved about half the retail price.

Not a bike bag, but a great commuter/everyday bag.

Well honestly, I haven't bought a bag in years, since I geared up for touring in the early 80's and again about ten years ago, but I definitely think the above concept is a good one in general consumption. Support your local business/merchant if it works.

When I was carrying a lot of clothes and miscellaneous stuff along with a laptop, I was really happy with my BaileyWorks bag.

But last year I switched to a Tom Bihn ID (http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/200/TB0805) bag to just carry my laptop and papers. It's not a pure bike messenger bag in that it doesn't conform to my back when riding, but I like its structure off the bike and while being carried around. It still expands to hold a lot more stuff than it seems like it should (I sometimes carry a full change of office clothes + leather shoes) along with the laptop and it's fine. The ID is also just about the perfect carry-on for flights with lots of handy pockets to slip in magazines, iPads, etc.

I have the Thin Briefcase...it's definitely a do-it-all bag. Hardcore. BUT IT'S HEAVY! :)

I've been-there-done-that on all the techy/hipster Chromes, Timbuk2s, Manhattan Porteges and Baileyworks style bags. But I've been rocking a Belstaff canvas cotton messenger bag for a couple of years now, and I think it's darned near perfect.

Lots of great suggestions. Keep them coming. Tom Bihn looks interesting.

Mainly looking for a work bag, but since I like to ride in sometimes, would be great to be comfortable when riding.

I have used the messenger bag in past more as a statement of my passion in cycling.
