Today I had to cut the carbon steerer on my wife's new Eriksen. I measured, walked away, measured again....made a cup of tea, checked the blade was all good, measured...... Talk about a song and dance. Eventually went to it with a very sweaty pair of mitts. Used only get like that on the crux of an out there climb.
What stuff gets you all wound up working on the bike?

I don't sweat that too bad but then I build guitars and know how true the general rule is, measure twice cut once. I get a bit sweaty working on a top quality piece of Brazillian rosewood but carbon steerers no prob :)

Something about the carbon steerer...I don't mind cutting them, but I hate sliding stems on and off them. I am convinced I'm going to pull or push in a way that puts in a nice deep gouge. I've installed countless stem without issue, but I still get antsy when I do it.
