Anyone here live in Santa Barbara?
My wife and I are passing through and decided to spend 2 nights there.
So far my choice of place to stay is either Upham Hotel or Eagle Inn.
Any recommendation?
TIA

How about giving us price range, Hotel, Motel or B&B? Near Stearns Wharf, on the hill, closer to Montecito?
More info and you'll get some good recs.

I found this site (Paradise Retreats (http://www.paradiseretreats.net/)) in my recent poking around for vacation rentals in the area.
May or may not be what you're looking for.

The 2 places that I've mention above have a range of $275 a night.

Hotel Indigo is a good value... or 4 Seasons Biltmore if you want to go big in montecito.

I'm local to SB, but since I'm local to the place I don't know anything about the hotels, unfortunately.
Seems like you've got it sorted out though :)

Check out Fast Track bike shop. The owner wrenched for Lance and it's a cool little joint - pretty low key although he has a funny side kick that is always trying to get you to upgrade. At first it was annoying but the more you go in it becomes amusing so take him with a grain of salt.
Montecito Inn is kind of a cool hotel, close to the beach, and has a tasty restaurant in it. Also there are some beach bungelows that were just installed on a beach at summerland (not sure of the beach name) although that may not be what you are looking for.
Restaurants that I like include Carlitos on State street for reasonable priced mexican fair, pan e vino in montecito is really good and authentic with a relaxed atmosphere (get the bolognese - trust me), good lunch can be had at Brophies on the harbor (not the pier but the actual harbor).
MOst of all - avoid the tourist traps!!!! PM me with any questions. I can give you ride routes too if you want.

Haha...so you've been to FastTrack and met Luke :) I concur with your estimation, the guy's a pro-salesman. I hope you don't get too much mechanical work done there though.
As for reasonable mexican fare, I prefer Los Agaves to Carlito's. It's cheaper than Carlito's and in my opinion, a lot tastier.

Rides/routes, if you have the time...I'm sure more than a few of us can help you out with that :)

The Marina Beach Motel is a classic beach motel. You can park your car in front of your room. The place is located one motel from the beach, which makes it quieter at night.
The perfect place!!

Try that place out. You can find insanely good deals some times or incredible bad ones. They are struggling so they need the business. Also, there are quite a few good little places between the wharf and the pier (behind Sambos).

My town!
First advice is, don't come on a weekend during the summer. You can get great midweek rates at lots of hotels around town, Montecito Inn used to have $99 midweek specials. I like the Days Inn on State/Arellaga st too- big rooms, good location, and they have a nice pool if you have kids.
Weekend rates are insane and typically have a minimum 2 night stay. Don't get suckered into staying in Carpinteria or Goleta (Bacara excluded) if you want to visit SB.
Gotta go to sleep but feel free to ping me directly if you have more questions.

Not much to see in Goleta but head down to Carpinteria for sure - much less touristy and consumer driven than SB. You want to go to Linden avenue which runs straight into the beach. Across the train tracks there is a great burger joint called The Spot. Also, cool little brewery right alongside the train tracks of linden.
Forgot to mention another cool little mexican place. Super Rica on Milpas. A little taco shack that makes awesome hand made corn tortillas.
