DA 7900 crankset compatibility

Does anyone know if the 7900 crankset will work with a bike that is otherwise equipped with 7800 components? Shimano's compatibility chart gives me a headache. It would be a cosmetic-motivated switch (from FSA SL-K), so I don't want to sacrifice shifting performance if they did something to the crankset that makes backward compatibility poor with 7800 FD and chain.

From what I've seen, the DA Shimano fanatics who are holding onto the 7800 cranks and prefer that crank over the 7900. It should work just fine though.
