Another 90 degree day in Los Angeles brings me to the conclusion that it is too hot to ride in the day.

I'm looking for a MiNewt 600 or similar. Thanks!

I don't have one for sale, but I can say the Minewt 600 works really well for riding out here in the L.A area. I often leave for MTB rides at about 5:15 am or after 7:00 p.m. You get a good 2+ good hours at the medium setting.

I had one, but it recently fell down a sewer drain. Here's the email I sent to NiteRider:

Hi Niterider,

A few months ago I bought a Minewt 600 cordless light. It was by far
the greatest light I've ever owned. I ride city streets at night
nearly every night. I first realized how incredible the Minewt 600
was on my first night using it as my headlight - I was biking down the
road and a car, driving in the other direction, literally stopped in
the middle of the road to try to figure out what was flashing so
brightly and coming in the other direction. It has also kept me and
my friends safe on many local and long-distance rides which involved
nighttime riding.

Unfortunately, my time with my Minewt 600 is over. Because the Minewt
is reasonably expensive, I started being in the habit of taking it off
of my helmet when I locked my bike and helmet up (don't want someone
to nick my $125 headlight while I'm inside). Last Friday night, after
unlocking my bike, I slid my Minewt back into the mount on my helmet.
As I put on my helmet, the light slid back out of its mount and
bounced onto the sidewalk. I must have not secured the small tab on
the helmet mount into the slot on the light. As it fell, I thought
"No big deal, this is a durable light; it will be fine." But then I
watched it do a slow bounce and roll right into a nearby sewer grate.
At first I couldn't believe it - just like *that* the light had
disappeared. So, hoping for the best, I peered into the grating... I
couldn't see anything. I went and got a flashlight and a crowbar.
Despite my best efforts, I couldn't remove the grate, and looking into
the grate with a flashlight, I found that the light must have fallen a
looong way into some pretty nasty water. So, I gave up. My Minewt
was gone.

Today, I got online to order a new Minewt 600 (why replace it with
anything else?). I quickly discovered that you'll be discontinuing
the Minewt cordless series and replacing it with the brighter Lumina
series - sweet! And, it looks like the Lumina series is smaller and
has a better mounting system - nice! I also quickly discovered that
the Lumina lights haven't been released yet. So, I'm emailing to ask
-

1) Do you have any factory second/discount/etc Luminas I could buy
before they're released for cheap?
2) Do you have any old stock of Minewt 600s I could buy for cheap?
3) If the answer to the two above questions are "no", when will the
Luminas be out?

THANKS! Looking forward to replacing my Niterider...

Needless to say, they didn't email back.

I'm surprised you didn't get a free light from that email.

Most lights are out of date by the time you own it. I bought a Light and Motion Urban 500 a couple months ago. Now they have a 550. That's OK.

But they are also introducing a much brighter self-contained light in the Taz series.

Worth looking at at least.
