So I am thinking of building one of my projects with mostly alloy components. I really like the Nitto S-83 seatpost and need a -17 degree stem. So either Nitto or Thomson. How close is the silver color of the Thomson X2 stem to the silver color of the Nitto S-83 seatpost?

Thanks!

i think the thomson is going to be less "shiney" or polished than the nitto, more of a machined look. dont forget to take a look at the new classic ritchey line, some nice stuff IMO.

I might have a Nitto Stem and post to add to your brake package. What size stem do you need?

Yes, I looked at the Ritchey stuff, but I don't think the Ritchey classic stem comes in -17 degree.

Nitto threadless, -17 degree, 110mm, I think its the Nitto UI-22 73 degree.

Velo Orange makes a pretty nice looking -17° stem that is shiny.

Thomson all day every day-- made in Macon, GA too. Get the silver seatpost to match and you're golden (er, silver).

For silver stems, another option is Interloc Racing (IRD)'s Satin Stems. At $40, its a very nice stem that comes with rises from 6 degree, 17 degree and even 40degree (35 degree rise for 31.6mm)!

What he said. VO stems are very pretty, and affordable. I have 2 of them, they look very classy IMO.
