Too hot to ride? Well, when the humidity is very high as well... and you're a 'northerner' kinda guy...
Wish I could bottle this for use in February...

It's never too hot. We have some serious first-world problems on these internet forums, I would much rather be riding my bicycle at 101 degrees than picking through a Mumbai trash dump.
Heading out now to sweat my wontons off and forgot to freeze my water bottles. Still preferable to dying of diarrhea in a Sudanese refugee camp.

Just got back from a 60 miler with the usual suspects, and it was extremely hot and humid following a major thunderstorm last evening. Off to the community pool and then a BBQ. Happy 4th!:hello:

It's hotter there than it is in Dallas. That's just wrong....:p

Wrong is right...
Can't say I've ever seen this before noon, and I'm old. H*ll, any triple digit temp days here are very, very rare. Tomorrow will be warmer.
Got back from a trip late last night (well actually early today) so missed my chance for an early AM ride. And I really need to ride a bike today, if you know what I mean.
Rollers in July? :crap:
Naw, maybe I'll wait until sunset...

Just got back from 2 1/4 hours here, had to beat the heat too. 95 now supposed to be 100 later. Remembering that beer is not a good re-hydrater...yeah, right.
Supposed to be hotter tomorrow, then cool off to high 80's for the weekend races.
Happy 4th!!

Got home from the Wilco show at midnight, stayed up until 4 building a Colorado to ride to my nephew's 4th party this afternoon. It's going to be a fun 50 miles for sure. Between the late night huffing tubular glue, hot temps, bike ride and party I'm sure to feel great tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply Tom. Another one incoming. I need to follow your example. I'm considering moving one or two on to someone else, but it should be more.

Consider taking your car. Seriously. It's dangerously hot out there---102 here now. Went out to fill up the birdbaths (6 wk drought here) and was glad to get back indoors.
And, notice, I didn't mention a word about global warming. ;)
90 degrees with a heat index of 98 at 9 AM. Did 40 miles and the temp was 98 when I finished, don't know what the heat index was. Oh, and just to show I don't have any first world problems, I freely admit that it was better than being probed anally with a cattle prod - but only just.
Now off to the landfill with the kids to see if we can find something for dinner.

Just a few degrees cooler than that here in Southeastern Minnesota, so I got an early start. Hit the road at 6 am and did 75 miles, finishing around 10:15. Didn't feel too bad at the beginning, but the heat index was well into the 90s when I finished. Not sure I could have done more than 30 if it was that hot when I started.
Spending the rest of the day rehydrating, and planning to go even earlier (5:15) and shorter (maybe 50-ish) tomorrow.
been unbelieveably hot here for the last few weeks. raced last weekend and it was 103* with a heat index of 117*. good crash diet tho, lost a few pounds :p

I rode a 20 mile sprint and was surprised to see that my average time and mph didn't drop too bad. I even crested my worst hill faster than normal and it was 98 degrees.
I will ride tomorrow in 100+ temps but tonight I'm spending time with the family.

Alright, I'm sure all of you have heard enough about the heat... but one more (hottest temp ever recorded here was in 1936, at 107°)

We're not going to exceed your record this week, but we've still got you beat all time. Highest temp ever at Moline was 111, on July 14, 1936. I crossed what's normally a good sized creek yesterday, only a mile from the IL River, and it was totally dry. It looked like a CA or AZ desert river bed. It's great to have your income tied to whims of the weather.
