I see Team Sky is decked out in yellow helmets.
I assume this is because they won the team competition in 2011. Correct?
If so, has any other team done this in recent history?

I also noticed venting differences in their KASK helmets. Most are normally vented, but a few riders appear to be wearing ones that are closed on the top and only vented at the back.

No, it is b/c they are leading the team classification this year. Instead of yellow dossard's, the organizers wanted the team leading the classification to be more visible, hence yellow helmets. All teams were asked to come prepared with yellow helmets.

I think it will make it harder to pick out the race leader at times. At first I thought...Sky is confident is Bradley...already breaking out the yellow.

It is a tradition last seen in the 80's when the leading team wore yellow hats

I keep thinking there are ten Cancellaras out there.

I guess it's better to see yellow than pink.. maybe the Giro will be following suit.

Actually, Garmin-Cervelo won the team competition last year, sans DZ as he crashed out. I vividly remember JV holding up a life-size picture of him on the podium.

not just yellow helmets but why covered vent holes?

At really high speeds, it's "more" aero. Sean Kelly and David Harmon were talking
about it on Eurosport today, one of them said it saves 4 watts.

Didja see David Millar had that new, Giro TT helmet on?? During the road stage today?? Looked really warm...complete with a built in visor. Hopefully worth some $ to wear that thing.

I'm glad sky was wearing the yellow helmets. it was amazing to watch cav work his way up in the last 1k - you could see that yellow helmet dancing forward.

To be fair, as much as I do not like it, this was a benefit in my mind today as well, pulling him out of the crowd whilst he was skulking around the back...

I actually like the pink more than yellow.

This Dario4Andy is one of my favorite bike paint.
