It seems like pre-fab carbon rear stays or triangles are a less expensive production method - look at Parlee's Z2 versus Z1 or Crumpton's use of the Deda rear triangle to keep costs down. So, why does the MeiVici use a Reynolds "rear fork" as opposed to custom manufactured seat stays?

"ST" pivot point....
I am sure it has the "ST" rear end, yes?

We have always worked very closely with Reynolds on all of our carbon fiber offerings - Tubes, Forks, Lugs, and Seat Stays. The Reynolds seat stays seen on our bikes are custom manufactured for us, to our specifications. Just like the F3 fork, for instance. Reynolds does produce some stock rear ends for other bike companies, but they are not what is used on the MeiVici, Ottrot, Legend, etc....

Does the wishbone or monostay have different ride characteristics than traditional seatstays?

Forks have always been custom to SEROTTA - even though made by Reynolds. From what I understand it is the same for the tubes. With high tech, it quite often makes more sense to design, test, design - - then have a specialist mft build to your specs the components - SEROTTA than makes those components into the finished product.
Serotta has moved the offices to the farm house from what I understand. THe reason for this was to make room for new production facilities......so it definitely is not a "cut and paste" assembly of someone else's work.

Hey Alexis the Moderatrix , last time I checked out Reynolds Composites web site they indicate that the rear carbon stay is for sale to all , they claim Serotta as a user of said stay . You add the ST pivot and made it your own by way of the patent . But everything else Carbone is made by Reynolds for Serotta to your spec's . I think at one time Douglas used the same stay on their Ti bikes but a bolt on version . I want me a Meivici so hurry up and get them out .
ps: Moderatrix , do you have a stash of 1 1/8 inch heads up extenders , I need one here in Merryland
from Reynolds website :
We think experience is what separates players from pretenders. Those in the know like renowned frame-builder Ben Serotta understand the difference. Serotta was so convinced by the responsive ride Reynolds Composites seat stays that he asked us to build them for his bikes.
Maybe Reynolds is making a different stay for Serotta ?

Smiley,
Reynolds has a few models of stays available. I haven't seen the one Serotta developed on anyone elses bike, but surely someone could be using it. I will certainly never argue Serotta facts with you, Mr. Smiley :) . I cannot be held entirely accountable for answers posted on Sundays.
And you're SOL on the headsup for right now. Hopefully soon though.
