I'm building up a new Steelman frame, and I need 28.6 band derailleur.

Are these available for Campy Chorus or Record?

What about for 2012 SRAM Force or Red?

You can easily get a braze on front derailer and use a problem solvers braze on adapter clamp.

Thanks for info. No impact on derailleur performance with these that you know of?

I've got the same set up with a Shimano CX70 front derailer on my cross bike with no perceptible hit in performance from a normal clamp-on style. You should be set.

Campy FDs used to be available in 28.6, but recently they have stopped making them. They were made in Chorus/Record 10 speed. I'd have to check the catalog for 11, but suspect not.

I have not seen a SRAM in 28.6. I assume you are supposed to buy the 32 and use a shim, or the braze with an adapter.

No real detriment to using an adapter in my experience, other than a few grams of weight, and looks.

And there's the rub.

I prefer clamp on front derailleurs over braze ons purely for flexibility sake, so what I do is include a shim that will allow folks to run a 31.8mm front derailleur (widely available) on a 28.6 seat tube, and unless you're looking super close, the shim is almost invisible. Nicer looking than an adaptor, IMO

Campagnolo doesn't believe any steel frames exist anymore-so no 28.6 clamp-on Fders or clamp adfapters...get a brazeon and a 28.6 clamp adapter, Problem Solver, others, they work just fine. ..At least shimano supplies a shim for 28.6mm frames...donno about sram.

More than that, Shimano still makes the 28.6 version
of the dura ace 7900 front derailleur.

On a steel frame, I like to use a plastic shim under a 32 MM derailleur clamp.....it protects the frame paint. I move parts around a lot on my steel frame, compact to regular double, triple , etc.

The Kcnc clamp is available in 28.6 and much better looking than the problem solvers unit. Parlee also has a carbon clamp in 28.6.

I also have a 2005-06 silver Record 10 speed clamp on I would sell if that works for you. Silver body with a chrome metal cage.

Pretty sue it's a 31.8 with a shim but...whichever, still for 28.6.

nope, only the 7900 is a dedicated 28.6 clamp.

Kudos to Shimano for acknowledging the need for 28.6mm derailleurs. I never was a fan of that "one size fits all" mentality.

I have a 28.6 DA 7700 FD that I'm not using. Let me know if you'd like, to try it.
