What's it like for a spectator? There's a race there Wednesday the 27th and I was thinking of taking my kids. It's be a first for all of us. Are there seats or do you watch from the infield?

Its a lot of fun watching the skittles swirl around the track. :nod

Its more fun to get the kids involved. IDK if Encino has a kid's program, but when I was racing in Sandy Eggo, we did. Iggy Silva came up thru the kid's racing program there.

Plenty of stadium seating there. They also have kids classes and some bike rentals. Keep an eye out for Stefen, Megan (Moth Attack) and Jack (Ritte). Great people to know at Encino.

Lots of fun. You'll have a great time.

There is also another one in Carson off the 405 on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills. It was the site of the 1984 Olympics.

I was there a few years ago. It was fun and the program worked well. Sat in aluminum bleachers along the home straight. They did have stuff for sale to eat. But if the kids are picky, bring stuff, as I don't think there was a whole lot of choice.

Not any more there's not. (http://www.csudh.edu/univadv/dateline/archives/20090813/campusnews/alookback.htm) That's where the Home Depot Center is now. Big to do when Cal State wanted to demolish the velodrome... Now y'all have a 250m indoor, wood track to have 'fancy' races on.
