Hm. Well, that is nice craftsmanship. I can think of a few limitations of wood as a helmet shell material, but I am no engineer.

Since the EPS is what does the head protecting, not the shell, isn't the only draw back to these over some thin plastic shell the weight? They look interesting. I can't see paying $350 for that sort of fashion statement, but they are pretty cool.

eh, wood has it's place, and a helmet just isnt one of them.

i certainly dont wear a helmet for style, it is on my head for functionality alone. beyond the crash protection stanpoint, that helmet sure looks like it would be hot to have on the head all day.

I do like the warmth, and texture of nicely finished wood.....though I don't think I would wear one.

Seems that they have easily passed impact testing...

"A lucky happenstance of the development and testing process was the proximity and access to one of the largest and most well regarded wood sciences colleges in the world at Oregon State University. With access to experts in the field of wood materials and applications as well as highly calibrated and sensitive drop tower impact tools it was possible to do sensitive testing as well as benefit from insightful consulting."

Having attended OSU and been in the Forestry program for a while, I do know they have one of the best testing facilities around.

Sweet. They should make a matching wooden backpack and maybe some wooden gloves, too. Talk about comfort.
