My wife's uncle passed away over 30 year ago and his widow, who can't part with anything, held onto his Centurion LeMans. She offered to give the bike to my daughter so she would have a bike to ride around campus. When I stopped by this evening to pick up the bike, she was telling me about the wonderful rides she and her beloved used to take on their bikes. As we were talking, I asked her about her bike and she said it was in the garage. Her dusty Schwinn Suburban had also languished, un-ridden in the garage all this time. After looking at the Suburban and hearing her say she would love to ride it again, I offered to clean it up for her.

As I was driving home, I kept laughing about the bikes I saw in my mirror. There's more sentiment than monetary value, but a loving overhaul is about to begin.

Not as cool of a story, and not exactly a rear view mirror picture, but this is from when I moved to Seattle from Southern California.
Two of my bikes (both gone now) and my girlfriend's bike (also gone). Plus, all of the stuff I could fit into the back of my truck.

Not at all bike related, but this morning I was stopped in Mass ave with my left blinker on waiting for traffic on the other side to clear when I glanced in my rearview mirror. I saw a car heading toward me, didn't think much of it. I looked ahead of me again, still waiting for traffic to clear, then I checked my rearview mirror again. He's a lot closer and showing no signs of slowing down. I have two Honda CRXes, one is an '89 still on snow tires (I'm still waiting for that big snow storm), the other is my autocross car with a turbo and nitrous. I don't know why I took the race car today, but it may have saved my life.

Nice story I hope the old lady is not too lonely ,nice gesture parting with the bike she has had for so long ,her husbands bike .
Better get a good lock ,I would not want to tell her it got stolen
Good for you for helping :):)
You helped three people your girl, the old lady , and yourself by doing a act of kindness .
