Can anyone point me in the right direction to help a neighbor sell her stamp collection? It was left to her by her husband and she's got no one to leave it to. Quite frankly she could use the money more than the stamps. The last dealer to look at it ripped her off by lifting a few rare pieces after she decided not to sell. Now she's asked me to help.

Initially I thought ebay but the grading system is too complex to grasp for a novice like me and the collection is pretty large, forty binders or more.

Thanks,
Ian

You could start by punching that dealer in the head for taking advantage of an old lady. Some say Violence is not the answer, but it sure feels better.

I'm not a stamp collector myself, but a few years ago I helped develop a website for the American Philatelic Society. They have a lot of helpful people who should be able to point your friend in the right direction. As I recall, they get these kinds of requests periodically. Good luck!

Thanks! Just spent a few minutes on those sites and they are exactly what I was looking for.

Take pictures of and inventory everything before you show it to anybody.
