This time, in the spirit of fairness, I drove the car, took pics and entertained the kid, while my wife MC did the riding.
Grimselpass separates My area (Wallis) from the Bern area. There was rain on the way there, but none where she started the riding. The pass also opened about 4 days ago.
Bicycle is an Ottrott, setup with Record and Hyperons.

Enjoy:

You live in such a beautiful area, made more beautiful by a cycling wife. How cool is that?

Fantastic shots! Those switchbacks look spectacular.

I misread "PASSHOHE" as "ASS)$&@" at first!

Thanks for sharing

I showed all of these pics to my wife (as I do all of Gothard's posts).

She looked at the the last shot and said, "oh I've stopped there" ...

Those long ago curling tours!

Climb's old Ottrott, very nice indeed. George please tell us why these towns look so deserted is it off season right now? Lovely pictures

Smiley, the roads were not too traveled, because the weather sucked pretty much everywhere in the area, except where MC rode. I also timed the pictures so that there would not be too many cars/people in the frame.

We had a very cold, long and snowy winter, meaning the passes opened really late, which threw a lot of peoples' plans in the weeds. Less Traffic for sure.

Insanely jealous!

I think in the first photos is the hotel I stayed at last time, on the second level balcony. And as I recall I was about as happy as a person could ever be. :)

I really enjoyed the Grimselpass - not too hard, not too easy, super scenic.

MC looks like she was killin' it! I assume she was passing the guys in the photo? She looks great.

Is Furkapass next then?

I arrived in Prague today. But again, I am really missing my bike on this trip, so your updates are fantastic to see!

George, you need a tandem + a trailer for your son!

Although, I suppose all that climbing would be tough, and all the descending and braking would also be tough. So maybe not such a good idea, unless there are also some flatter areas to ride.

As always, very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Now that brings back memories, but not of the cycling kind.
Climbing the east ridge of the Grosser Diamantstock, and an orgy of long immaculate granite rock routes in that valley and around Furka pass. Great times, thanks for the great post.

The pic with the 30 meter snow wall... great! Thanks, George.

The images of the beautiful European mountain roads I've seen over the past few months on this Forum have been amazing. Keep 'em coming!

I agree. and now that the sun has arrived in San Francisco I actually wish the roads were a little more wet. did i really just say that?
