Am running a SRAM Red drivetrain but need to throw on a compact crank for a few weeks or so, just as a temp fix until I get things sorted out. Anyone know if this would work, or not?

Pretty darn sure it will..

Didn't run that exact combo but I know it works in reverse.. SRAM crank + Shimano deraiuller worked fine for me. Most of the combos mix & match fine for the cranks/rings/f. deraiuller.

yes, it will work, no issues. you may need to tweak your FD position and adjustment, and potentially adjust chain length, but other than that, no compatibility issues.

You could even throw 11-speed Campy on there and it would work with the Ultegra crank. For the most part, cranks are fairly universally compatible now, contrary to what some manufacturers say.

but if you're bb30 and looking, I have a 2010 force compact sitting in a box waiting for some action..\

edti: i suppose if you were bb30 you wouldn't be thinking about this, anyhow, since shimano doesn't make a bb30..

You'll have to change BBs going from SRAM to Shimano.

It won't know if you don't tell it.

Yes it will w/o problem and you'll get better chainrings, both in stiffness and longevity, to boot. Need matching BB cups, BTW-
