View Full Version : Can you shim any stem ?

I know if they wanted them shimed they woud provide the shim with the stem . But really WHY NOT . Anybody care to tell me why I can't shim any Ahead Stem I want . Thanks

If you're talking about using a reducer bushing, it should work with any stem. Just be sure that the bushing is not longer than the steering tube clamp, if you're swapping bushing between brands. Steering tube clamps vary from 3.5cm to 5.0cm, with 4cm being the most common.

brecause....95% of the people who buy them won't use them and if they need them there is a bucket of free ones available at any bike shop.
