compared to vintage race cars. I take my wife to watkins glen every year for the svra race. it's good for her to see what I could be spending my/our money on instead of bicycles.

My father-in-law (RIP) was a sports car racing hobbyest in upstate New York. Used to race at Watkins Glen a lot, as a matter of fact. And his family of four kids really couldn't afford it. If my wife even THINKS about making an issue of my bikes (which we CAN afford), I mention her dear departed father's hobby by means of comparison. Fortunately, she's pretty supportive of my cycling and has never really given me much trouble about it, but I can't be sure than my occasional remark about the difference between bikes and race cars hasn't helped her maintain her perspective!
