for those familiar w/SRAM cassettes:

what cog(s) is(are) deleted when you get an 11/25 ratio from them?

perhaps this next one has been beat to death, why doesn't SRAM start a cassette w/a 12 toothed chain ring? ie., you can't get a 12/23 or 12/25 only 11/23, 11/25.

I see lots of cassettes starting with a 12t from SRAM.

My cross bike has a 12-27 cassette from them.

This is only true for PowerDome cassettes (XG/OG 1090). The PG 1070 and PG 1050 10spd cassettes are available in 12/25, 12/26, 12/27, 12/28 and 12/32.

I have a bunch of 12-26 SRAM cassettes, for what it is worth.

PowerDome cassettes are machined from a single, hollow, cone shaped block of steel, with the open end of the cone covered by a flat plate; standard cassettes are made from individual sprockets rivetted together. PowerDome cassettes are found in the SRAM Red (road) and XX (mtb) groups.

thanks I wish my bike shop had informed me of this. I was simply told "SRAM" doesn't make a 12/23".

It's pretty amazing how they make 'em.

Too bad the darned things are about as quiet as I-95 over the George Washington Bridge at rush hour on a Friday.

Are the new 2012 cassettes with the rubber inserts any quieter?
