I want to use a mid 80s crank and deraileur with some wheels i have with 10s hubs. I have a 8s cassette but it doesn't fit the hub right. Anyone got a suggestion?

Cheers,

If you're using friction shifters, just use a 9 speed cassette with the stock spacers, 9 speed chain.

If you want 6 speed indexed, you will need spacers to duplicate the center to center spacing of a 6 speed freewheel, using the 9 speed cassette cogs. Be sure to get a Veloce or Mirage cassette, as they have all loose cogs that can be respaced. Athena, Daytona, Centaur, Chorus and Record have some cogs riveted together on a carrier, so you are stuck with 9 speed spacing.

Oliver,

thank you very much. I'll due up a 9s cassette and chain, I'm using friction shifting so just worried about spacing.
