Well its the new 2012 Red and I have it and have yet to mount it on my new still in paint Bedford. Its crazy light for sure, the brifters feel much nicer and the finish looks great. I can't wait but I am a fan of SRAM haven taken the leap when they first came out with Rival. Go for it :)

Feel and function is much nicer than previous generation Red - get the newest stuff.

I have installed two of the fron der on my bikes. A hug improvement over the older Sram stuff.
Probably the nicest mechanichal front der that I have ever used.

I also just installed one of the new Red front derailleurs (on a customers bike). The set up is Force shifters, and the 2011 Red cranks. It worked like butter! Just as good or better than my force shifters + 6700 front der.

what inner chainring/rear cassette ratios work before you get chain rub on the f. derail.?
i have a red compact (34x50) with an 11-28 cassette, and the smallest rear cog i can use before front derail. rubs is a 15. my red is circa '09 or thereabouts, fyi.
i wish this version of red had f. derail. trim like shimano. if the new version can take huge capcity without f. derail. rub, it'd be useful.

sounds sweet... I'm sure I'll wait for the trickle down to the Force or Rival though...

My thoughts...

Yes, works fine.
I can also use 9 cogs without any F Der rub.
