Stumbled across some info about a solar eclipse happening tomorrow. Although I will only see the moon eclipse the sun by 67% I will still be out with an eye to the sky.

Click your state and see what you can see.

Thanks, will make it a point to see it. Although not sure how dark a number 14 welder's helmet is; required for safe viewing. Being late in the evening maybe it won't be too bright.

On our way home from stage 7 of the Tour of California we stopped at the Griffith Observatory and picked up a couple of these:

I wish I was in a place to see the full eclipse but no mater how much of it you see it is still worth the time. I remember the first time I saw one in elementary school. Very cool stuff.

Don't risk damaging those eyes, they're the only ones you've got, it's just about time to get outside!

I've made one of these in a pinch:

We experienced the partial eclipse in the Bay Area. Below are a couple of images capture from a hastily improvised set-up consisting of a digital SLR camera with no lens, and a sheet of aluminum foil with a hole made by a pin.

Had I thought about it more, I would have enlarged the hole a bit, so that the focused image better matched the size of the camera sensor. But you get the idea.

It was eerily dark around 6pm today, felt like the end of the world, lol
