Everytime I check steephill and see "flat" I can pretty much predict Cavendish will take it (unless a Ferrari rolls through). All kidding aside, racers can take a "day off?" I noticed in one of the photo captions for stage 12 yesterday that he took a day off so that he could win today's stage. Kinda crazy.

Not really a "day off ." Riding a little easier on a stage that you can't win.

The Giro is more of a gentleman's race, where the pelOton agrees to have a 'piano' day. The TdF, with all the hype and pressure, doesn't really do this. No manners.
