Remember Friday the 13th?!?!
Thats what it was like at my place in the shower as I tried to de-hair myself. I bought a bunch of no name razors at the local Sams Club. Now, I'm a pretty hairy guy, a lot of which is on my back, but a lot on the legs too.
I used about 9 razors. Starting with nice long strokes to get the thick stuff off. It actually felt really nice in a strange way. I got excited and started scraping away. Eventually I decided to use some shaving cream to get closer. I felt some knicks, etc., but thought nothing of it. But by the time I was done, the water was all red running off my legs!! I have so many cuts on me, right up to my crotch. It hurts!
I did decide to do my arms too, but managed to only cut myself once. I was gonna do my armpits, but decided that could wait.

but i used to shave when i swam in college. The best method is to chop through the thick with hair clippers (which i use anyway atop my head) and then use the razor blades to take off the rest.

Too late now I guess.

Its cheaper to get your body Aellized ( sp ??) , you know some kind of lazer that removes the body fur for good.

. . . a technical manual for this? That is what you do, right? Maybe one of those 4 inch thick things with all the diagrams?

With all these posts about the bloodletting from shaving your legs, all I can say is thank God none of you has ever had to prepare yourself for a vasectomy. You'd all be a bunch of eunuchs! :D

A friend wanted me to ask... how long you gotta stay off the bike if you get that V thing?

I got mine in December, so it wasn't a problem. Usually, until the stitches come out. :(

How long do the stitches stay in?

About 2 weeks. My doc told me you can do whatever you feel like doing after the first couple of days. I didn't feel like riding my bike. :(

Two weeks and trust me the last thing on your freaking mind once you've had it done is when can I get back on the bike. Try seeing how the plumbing works once its all been re-routed.
Stitches dissolve and are not removed , oooch to think of having stitches removed. And the Drunk thought razor burn was a problem.

My stitches didn't dissolve (they never do). They just broke and I took them out. How do you do that, you might ask? VERY carefully! :D

When "disolving" stitches don't disolve? I had a stitch from my hip op float out in August (hip surgery was in January 2003) And another one floated out at the beginning of this January...that's a year later...
What's up with that?
ICK...

but I can't relate to removing the stitches you're referring to...ouch!

John,

You just pushed back my consideration of a vasectomy by at least a year. Thank you.

Kevin , you wuss , do it and my bet is the wife will let you buy any bike toy you want. After my wife told me how much birth control pills cost her per month the economic analysis would have had me in a new bike in 2 years with the savings. I bought a boat instead.

??? How did a simple thread on newbie leg shaving wind up ontopic for vasectomy? Nevermind. SMILEY, no wonder Mrs. K is smiling ;)
