What are your bibs of choice here?

Do you go knickers or shorts? Roubaix fabric or just normal lycra? Figure temps will be mid 40s into the high 50s or so.

I picked up a set of Ibex knickers, and they're a bit warm for anything over 45 degrees. I was hoping for them to be a little more versatile than that.

Ummm. I use the Ibex knickers in temps 75-80 or less and they are comfortable for me ... I like to have my knees covered in anything less than 70, so they they get a workout in the fall, winter, and spring.

Your balls aren't sweating up a storm? I felt the swamp-ass occurring and it was barely 50 degrees.

not all knickers are the same weight, even though most advertise "theraml-roubaix" fabric.

The ones I have, from warmest to coolest:

Capo LE (wamrest)
rapha 3/4
mavic
capo riserva
rapha cross (coolest)

capo/mavic all bought off bonktown
rapha all bought on sale.

get a few, so you can wear per the temp.

alternatively I have a pair of PI thermal shorts. I wear those with knee warmers so I have some options.

for temps like that, standard weight lycra knickers or regular bibshorts with my smartwool knee warmers.

bibshorts with my smartwool knee warmers

Regular shorts w/ kneewarmers 50-65
Regular shorts w/ leg warmers 40-50
Bib tights for anything below.

However I would like a pair of thermal bib shorts for cool spring races.

40 degrees with regular shorts and 20 mph winds... recipe for shrinkage. just sayin'.

40-50 I wear PI Thermal tights. 50-65 I wear my old Cannondale polypro tights and anything over that is shorts weather.

I hate trying to pee with bib knickers,
there's no possibility of the lift and squirt.
You basically have to take off your jersey & bibs
on the side of the road to pee... why don't they have a fly?
