Thought I'd give this a try. Years ago I had a Merlin I converted to flatbar that made a great go go street machine.
One advantage of downtube shifters is you only have to disconnect the cables from the calipers, then switch quills stem w/bars and all.
Easy switch to convert back for longer rides.
