MY 2002 Ottrott which will be 10 years old in November of this year rolled over 70,000 miles today--a great dependable bike with many enjoyable rides. By comparison my wife's 2002 Avalon which is 10 years old has less than 56,000 miles on it.

Woof! That's a ton of miles you ride! Same components/wheels the whole time?

I tip my hat to you, sir, and your wife. That's some serious mileage.

Same Dura Ace components except for bottom bracket which was replaced at approximately 60k miles. I went through several sets of boutique wheels until I got some of Joe Young's wheels that have about 52k miles on them and which run as true as the day I bought them. Of course I have gone through a lot of tires/tubes, brake pads, bar tape, saddles, etc.

Congrats, that's a great accomplishment. What are the Joe Young wheels that have proved so longlived?

By my calculation, that's an AVERAGE of 142 mi/week for the last 9.5yrs. That's a TON!

That's impressive indeed! Congrats. I suspect I'll be closer to half that when my Ottrott turns 10, but I'm enjoying every mile just the same.

I'd not only like to see pics of the bike, I'd like to see pics of the rider that can do 70K! I guess I'm just an beginner.

that is quite an accomplishment.

I do have an OTTROTT which I love but it only, at best has 30K miles.

Joe Young makes wonderful wheels for your stated purpose. He has decades of Pro and normal cycle and wheel experience.

Richard Sachs turned me onto Joe's wheels 10 years ago.:bike:

70,000 miles, that's dedication. ...I have a lot of catching up to do.

I think those Serotta frames are going to catch on some day :)
