Fresh bread. Especially sourdough. Also challah. And it's tough to stop eating chips and salsa.

Salty snacks. And bread. And dark chocolate.

No more chips and the like in the house.
I can control the dark chocolate, so it stays.
Good, fresh bread is still a challenge, but I'm
working on it.

The Hop Rod Rye I just finished I don't see as a problem.

food = eat smaller portions. The end.
drink = cut out all beer and soft drinks (soda)

chocolate is good. More chocolate is better.
Chili is good. More chili is better. Thai food is best.

Day in, day out it's bread, tortillas, cheese, and beer. A pound of bread in a day is not unusual for me. (I don't eat that much cheese most days.)

I can eat a whole bag of potato(e) chips at a sitting, but I can also go a month without buying any. I love ice cream and could eat it every day, but never buy it.

If I had to do without bread I would have to substitute large quantities of meat.

I've seriously considered starting to eat meat again as a way of weaning myself off the bread. Maybe I should just do it.

Beer and nutella. Nutella makes everything so much better.

Hartlin

Nutella, ice cream, crunchy peanut butter.

Usually a two scoops of vanilla ice cream, and a scoop of Nutella and peanut butter.

d_douglas

Nutella is like icing on toast - gross.

But natural PB and ice cream (not in combination) are two of my weaknesses.

Where is that " Need to lose 20lbs " thread?

I am not a huge person, but damn, I haven't summoned the willpower to lose the 20lbs that would make me 175lb fit person. I will keep working on it...

Good dark bread with Nutella. Great way to start the day.

Sourdough baguette W/ Nutella.

I once got back from a long ride and refueled on Coke and entire baguette with half a jar of Nutella.

Wife wasn't impressed as the baguette was for dinner.

benitosan1972

I've never gotten into Nutella, maybe it's cuz I'm not Euro enough. Can't get into Sparkling water either.
Peanut butter, cheese, or butter on bread for me... Espresso... and of course, Rapha, they should make $50 Nutella?

I can eat a whole bag in no time at all. I control my intake by simply never buying them, except for once or twice (well maybe three or four times) a year.

Then I just pig out completely.

Ice cream and beer. But you can pry them from my cold, dead hands. I'll keep the extra 10 pounds, thank you very much.

Any of the above except Nutella - I'm allergic to hazelnuts, of all things. So, I overindulge in peanuts - a spoonful of peanut butter on sliced apple or banana, a handful of nuts, or shelling a few handfuls at my favorite BBQ restaurant where there's a barrel of them to enjoy while waiting in line. Oh, and well smoked BBQ. Nothing like a good, smoky brisket or rib.

ice cream, peanut butter, cookies.

Red meat is, in my opinion, not a nemesis... it has actual nutritional benefits. cookies and ice cream DO NOT. Peanut butter is at the margin.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I can be obsessive about food. My achilies heel is always supper time. I am always bothering my friends (ask Binx about this one lol)
"What are you making for supper" is almost always part of my conversations. I have found that there are a great number of forum members who can really hook a man up with some amazing recipes. (Thanks learningtoride/Nicki)
Italian people are great idea givers. But my biggest downfall in consumption is probably crunchy cheetos. My son brings a bag home and I've had to ask him to please keep it in his room. It's like crack. Damn chester! :bike:

Entertaining thread! I just ate lunch so I'm in a good position to respond.

For me it's Coke. I know the stuff is horrible for me in so many ways. But it is so satisfying to drink and I know that if I drink a Coke in the afternoon I will be incredibly productive at work. So I limit it to days when work is critical and try to resist the rest of the time. I probably drink less than one a week, so I'm doing OK.

I would like to switch to iced coffee but I have to figure out an easy, homemade way to make iced coffee ahead of time so I don't have to brew it fresh. 'Cause in those cases I would just grab a Coke instead.

I've had success making iced coffee at home by simply placing coarsely ground coffee beans into a french press, adding cold/room temp water, and covering it with plastic. Leave it in the fridge for just under 24 hours. Once time is up, plunge the pot and pour the liquid into another pitcher (so the used grounds don't continue to brew). Seal it up and it should be good for a couple days at least.

*The french press is handy because I don't bother to measure the amount of grounds, instead I just fill the empty pitcher with grounds up to the bottom of the handle, then add water. Also, it makes it easy to strain the ground outta the iced coffee for storage/consumption.

Pie.

With especially buttery and flaky crust.
Parricularly cherry, but almost any flavor with great crust - its the crust.

Especially traveling and finding a little mom and pop bakery in a small town where they make everything themselves.
I will eat good pie.

Not even going to mention good beer (Redhook ESB) and red wine (almost any kind).
