Wow... one of the only things that puzzles me is how in the world they did not get robbed in the peruvian highways or around colombia for example.

Would love to do a trip like that, envy them :)

More likely to get taken in by a family for a meal then you are to get robbed by bandits.... atleast that was my experience south of the US border.

Cool story. I've always wanted a Calfee bamboo. What is up with the bamboo spokes? They don't appear to replace any traditional spokes and look like they go to the center of the hub???

This is inspiring and stirs up a bit of envy. As someone else wrote, I would love to do this when I don't have a job. I'd be happy to get out on the bike for a whole weekend this summer let alone a decent tour.
