I once played the theme from Super Chicken on youtube... now my daughter and I have an inside joke. I still can't believe that "The Banana Splits" and "Lancelot Link" were ever popular. Captain Caveman? Yikes.

Hey I loved the banana splits. Danger island and gulliver and what was the other one?

My friends and I all dug the monkeys too, by then in syndicated reruns. Banana seat bikes, the ice cream man, staying outside till dark...what a great time to be a kid.

Add Johnny Quest (and Haji and Bandit)

Not cartoons, but Rat Patrol and Combat were early favorites, as well as Wonderful World of Disney hosted by Walt himself.

Maybe someone local will remember this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNgecUK3SJA&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL6A2946A799C4E961). Just after the curtain call the screen went to static.

Did you have a local station that signed off in a fun way?

That one pre-dates me, though I grew up in Sacramento.

When you feel your life's in danger
When you're threatened by a stranger
When it looks like you will take a lickin'

bwak bwak bwak bwak!

There is someone waiting who
Will hurry up and rescue you
Just caaaAAALLLL for Superchicken!

bwak bwak bwak bwak!

(Um, yes, Alex, I'll take "Useless information that's filling my brain" for 1,000 please)

Peter B and Bart998, do you remember 'Captain Delta'?
Kind of like Howdy Doody for local Sacto kids.

I love it! My morning wasn't over then. I watched bandstand and then Soul Train, whenever I didn't have soccer!

And you knew the morning was over when Bandstand came on lol-

Earliest cartoons/childhood/daytime/afternoon shows in this order:

Had a huge crush on both chicas from 'The Magic Garden':

www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwdzKngEI9o

Get Smart (favorite)
Tom & Jerry
Heckle & Jeckle
Woody Woodpecker
Bugs Bunny
Batman & Robin (had the hots for cat woman, otherwise, never dug the show)
Space Ghost
Johnny Quest
Land of the Lost (sleestacks were cool for a while)
Thundarr The Barbarian (had a thing for the mom):

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhAobPugvsk

Superfriends (favorite, the theme song still gets me pumped up)
Dungeons & Dragons (favorite, they never got home)
X-Men (favorite)
Welcome Back Kotter
Happy Days
The Bionic Man (I think it was on during the day/afternoon at some point or maybe I was trying to re-live it during the day, everyday).
The Bionic Woman (I would still marry Jamie Sommers I don't care how old she is).

Then in 1980, age 10, I got serious and started to watch CNN because of Ronald Reagan.

But I never let go of my inner-cartoon child. :)
