What stations are you listening to? I've got either jazzradio.com or jazzradio.fr on a lot but still haven't found any equivalent stations for classic and other types of music. I'd love to find some station with music from the late 60s, early 70s.

Internet radio
When iTunes was first released, it came with support for the Kerbango Internet radio tuner service, giving users a selection of some of the more popular online radio streams available.[95] When Kerbango went out of business in 2001, Apple created its own Internet radio service for use with iTunes 2.0 and later.[96] As of February 2008, the iTunes radio service features 1795 "radio stations", mostly in MP3 streaming format. Programming covers many genres of music and talk, including streams from both internet-only sources and traditional radio stations. iTunes also supports the .pls and .m3u stream file formats used by Winamp and other media players.
Since the release of iTunes 7, Apple no longer promotes the Internet radio feature, though it remains in the application. Some third-parties offer iTunes plugins that add additional radio stations.
In addition, users are able to enter additional stream feeds to listen to in their own music libraries. This is done by selecting the menu item "Advanced" > "Open Audio Stream..." or by the hotkey Ctrl-U (PC) or Command-U (Mac).[73]

Radio Paradise (http://www.radioparadise.com/rp_2.php?#). Been listening to it for years and its a great mix of 60's, 70's, alternative and some contemporary. A good mix that you won't get bored with. No much jazz or classical though. You will need to find that music through other stations but there are plenty out there. iTunes does a good job of presenting most all of them.

pandora. different genres, great mix, etc.

free if you can deal with occasional commercials, and refreshing the browser (it times out after 15-20 min. or so).

I hate Pandora - always tries to be too clever by half.

But I love Slacker Radio. It just plays music I like, which is sort of the idea.

I dig Pandora and have created lots of different stations. I paid the wee bit for Premium which gives you better quite streams, no commercials and doesn't time out. Well worth the extra change.

I then use PandoraJam to stream Pandora to my stereo system using AirTunes.

Please forgive my ignorance about internet radio.....but I have a question. Currently , in our family, 2 of our vehicles have satellite radio, one XM, and one Sirius (I know same company now), and every year I go thru the process of haggling with them for subscription. WE mostly use these radios in the vehicles to listen to CNN, CNBC, oldies and more modern music, NASCAR (Me), etc. We really like what satellite radio provides, just hate the yearly hassling over subscription costs. Especially for two vehicles, and maybe a third vehicle in near future.

I'm picking up a new car for myself this week that has Pandora (and XM). Can I use Pandora similar to satellite radio? CNN, CNBC, Sports, etc? How does Pandora work? Do you just tune to a particular station, like you do with satellite radio? Thanks

Grant,

Those are great and right in line with what I am listening to.

If you are not already listening on a mobile device, check out TuneIn (Pro) for Android and IOS. What is real nice that TuneIn displays the album artwork for the songs that are playing. It is a format like what Pandora displays but of course these are stations with people crafting the playlist (free form radio) as opposed to a bot.
