Looking for a 54-56 Richard Sachs or Vanilla SV frame. I am done with racing for a while and certainly at this level, time to get a bike that rides nice...

I think toosahn already sold the Vanilla that he had, but I'm pretty sure he still has a fillet-brazed Kirk that you might want to check out. It's pretty beautiful and should ride smoooooooooth.

that would be the vanilla that wrestlr bought from jb, and then sold to rubeboy who sold it to aoe/toosahn who sold it to?
the only reason I know this is I thought about buying it myself at various points in this food chain but did not

Thanks for the plug Ari. Here are some recent pictures of the Kirk. In my opinion, this bike looks stunning in the blue-black sheme:

Is it just me or does the paint job look kinda not so well done?

I'm not seeing any obvious issues or flaws...but I'm not the best with details.

I have the same paint job, but in red, and yes, there are imperfections in the paint, but that is what makes it beautiful - you can see that a hand was used to 'decorate' this thing.
The stripes are not perfectly symmetrical at the DT/ST (BB) junction on mine - something went a little off kilter, but to me, this is what makes it unique.
IMO.
IDK, I guess for the kind of money and wait time, I would want something that looks more professionally done.

Yes, I can see the point, but this is nitpicking - I went over the bike mm by mm to admire it and noticed these minor 'flaws', but if one were To just 'have a look', one would definitely not observe that the paint is an amateur job!
Good luck either way - you have very gOod tastes in bikes !
Cheers

My army 2010 SV has some similar imperfections in the masking of the pinstriping. When you examine it closely you'll realize there isn't really a way to perfectly, smoothly mask that radius as you cross the weld beads at the tube junctions. Regardless, I was impressed by the level of detail Coat achieved.

Peter B, you thinking of selling the SV or just using it as an example?:)

ya, one SV (the one discussed here) and one Vanilla CX both "sold" by the same front end. don't see either for sale often. how is that CX built? is it TIG'd but the seat cluster is a lug?

Just making a point on Coat's finish work. Not trying to hijack your thread Mike.
Good luck in your hunt!

I've been watching that one, too. It's like it was built custom for me. Wanna thumb-wrestle for it?
