But I can fit a 700x28 ruffy tuffy on a 2011 caad9 with Red calipers... no fenders, sure, but you can't always have it all.

that is all...

We could do with an index of frames/ forks and max. tire clearances.

We could do with an index of frames/ forks and max. tire clearances.

A problem with that is that 'parts ain't parts' when it comes to stated tire sizes. Continental generally runs narrower than stated width while Michelin runs wider. And then tire sizes change when used on wide rims.

...and the machining of slots in brake calipers varies...
...and the arch shape through a brakes reach changes between models....
...and...

That said, if you are wondering about a specific combo, odds are someone on the board has given it a go.

There is little clearance in the Ottrott chainstays. I'm surprise. I have to shoehorn a 25mm tire in there.

I think it's a stretch to say "we all complain" because for many many years
the vast majority of enthusiast road riders never used a tire wider than 23mm.

Personally, i remember being shocked at a post not that long ago on
Competitive Cyclist's great blog page that mentioned their first try of 25's.

I think it's the other way around. My GP4000's measure 24mm for a 23, and my PR3's measure 22mm for a 23.

I measure the Ruffy Tuffys at 27mm on A23 rims.

28-35 is now my tire size range.

Speaking of which, why would Serotta omit to mention the Pave tire size option on its new website?
