that i'm devising, and if all goes according to plan, it will be an ultra-light fixed gear road bike. i'm thinking that it should line up in the 11 lb. range. so then i realized as i was looking for specs on the ottrott frame, that there are no weights listed on the web page. who has a general idea of how much an ottrott weighs?

p.s. -world record lightest bike 9.11 lbs?
i could probably build a 7.5 lb fixie then
wouldn't that be silly?

Oracle

Not certain if you have seen this one. I know it's not road configured but pretty cool.

Also my 58 Ottrott ST frame weighed a little over 3 lbs.

Oracle,

Notice that there's a singlespeed category which don't have any posting yet. Maybe you can start one there.

curious, i took a look at this weightweenie website. clicking through the links, i find one Tuning an ITM "The Stem" (Author: Nino)

Maybe I am too conservative, but shaving metal off of what is already a very light stem seems like a face plant in waiting all for 7 grams. does not seem worth it ...

In regards to the cyclingnews photo in EdK's response...
Now i am sure the Speedplay guy is very intelligent and I hate judging people on an open forum when they don't even know I am writing about them.

That said, why does he have a 105 degree stem (thats gotta be 14cm) and SO MUCH seatpost sticking out of a frame that is clearly too small for him. If he likes it that way, power to him but why is he doing that?

Did anyone see were Bernhard Langerbein's lightest bike shift levers were located? This was certainly an exercise in creating the lightest bike and not one that is designed to be ridden.

Dude

Richard is a friend of mine. He did it because smaller frames are lighter. This is his project light bike. It is rideable but it doesn't get much time being ridden. More of a conversation piece/hobby than anything else. Anyone seen a Litespeed Ghisallo set up for a big person? They may be under 2 pounds in a medium but they look completely silly.

yes, perhaps i am a bit crazy. i am only considering the ottrott, because they have a horizontal drop out option, and it would make a an interesting ride. i would prefer to find a sub-kilo frame for the 'project' as i would like to have it tip out at 11 lbs or so. i enjoy things that verge on the absurd, and it would make for a great training bike for the mountains, to boot.

Sorry, no offense to your friend. I guess when the thing is meant for weight only, looks/fit and everything else is compromised.

oracle, maybe a builder would do something for you using U2 tubing. that could get you toward an 11 pound bike. man, i'd not want to hit a boston pothole on an 11 pound bike. ouch.

Dude

No worries, you are absolutely correct, a rideable really light show bike.
