well i had to think of climb with all this talk about mount washington. http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/articles/lee/lee.pdf very begining of the article talks about how there is more torque in the stroke of a fixed gear as opposed to a freewheel. makes me wonder if you chose an appropriate gear for MW if it would be a more efficient climber. though i have never ridden a fixed gear...found it to be an interesting article and figured i would pass it along.

Shoe, I read the article and while it is enthusiastic and well meaning is misinformed and not factual. An argument I willingly entertain is that a fix gear is more efficient for any given gear inch.
