I just mounted my new 11 speed Chorus shifters and they feel really stiff when depressing the thumb lever. Can anyone with 11 speed tell me if they "soften up" over time or is this just it. I am coming off campy 10 speed and the thumb lever seems much more smooth.

I have to say that my C11 on the first ride worked as smooth, and had lighter action, than the 2007 R10 group with 5k miles I also have. Now at about 500 miles it is even smoother. just stay with it.

On my Chorus 11 shifters there was one jump (around 8 or 9 clicks through) that was consistently stiff, while all the others were as smooth as the Chorus 10 speed I was used to. After a few hundred miles that stiff click went away, and now all of them are fine.

Thank you all. This is what I was hoping to hear.

There should be little or no break in period. Be sure that the thumb lever is not dragging on the slot in the brake hood. If it is, pull on the lower edge of the hood to open up the slot.
