He's offering an "original" in addition to the new OS frames, reasonable prices too...

I bet Russ would make a bigger one if you asked. He builds all sorts of bikes.

The new FUSO looks great. I wasn't thinking about another bike yet, but I may have to get one. I have a '91 and it's awesome.

I don't have a problem with it. think of it this way, "what would dave have done?" if he was building bikes today, I would think dave would use the best methods available. I saw them at NAHBS a few weeks ago and they looked solid.

If Dave would use the best methods available why mention BB30 and plastic forks?

Dave did a nice presentation at Cirque a few years back. I like his geometry and the thinking behind it. First class builder for many years

I think he's probably trying to create a business model that's viable..and perhaps there are only so many people that want to buy a 30 year old bike (no slight intended).

Everything he is building is steel, some beautiful classic lug'd stuff and some modern stuff...oversized tubes, modern geometries, etc.

I am not a BB 30 fan, but don't condemn builders or riders that use them.

Anyone know anything about the Nova tubing he's using? I assume it's just regular 4130 . . . Looks like a US product, though, so that would be a plus.

I wish him success with it. Definitely a storied brand with great history.

Did Russ Denny build frames under another name ?
does he work with alum tubes too ?
Cheers

Oh yes I remember tsunami bikes I thought they looked familiar

Fixed--I'm pretty sure he welded my older alu. frame from 10-12 yrs. ago, a Tsunami, back when it was owned by the original founders. Welds were puuuurty.

From Russ's website, he did contract stuff for a lot of folks over the years. Has def. been around the block, as it were.

If I was in mkt for a custom steel bike an "original" lugged Fuso would be on my very short list.

Why do you consider that a "plus"?

It's a global economy, the best stuff available at the best price possible gets my attention.....

Now if we get back into being a world leader at something that I'm in the market for, I'll give a good look. That's a big IF.

A world leader at what...lugged steel tubed bikes and forks. I would wager that his work is commensurate with his peers (world class), foreign and domestic. He is trying to offer you a bike you may have lusted after in your youth and give people wanting something more modern... a bike with some pedigree.

What else would you have him do that would give him a better chance at keeping his doors open, while still be a craftsman?

What's a sham IMO, is when someone take a name like FUSO and farms it out to china and then tries to sell it as something it's not....plenty of people willing to do that.

I wish him well.

I wish him well too.

I was refering to the reference about using US made tubes in the above quote. NOT the denny built bikes....

Hey Folks! The original FUSO was designed to be an "affordable" race bike. It is now offered in the 1" and 1 1/8" to replicate the original design, along with the geometry. ou can actually have an original. But we added a few models to give you more choices

We added a sloping lugged frame which is one of the best riding bikes I have ever ridden. Oversized tubes with lugs, and a sloping top tube with a compact design makes the bike snappy, stiff laterally, and comfortable. It is also modern looking at the same time.

The TIG has same compact design, but modern geometry a fewer sizes, just like carbon bikes today, and saves weight. This gives you something to compare to todays bikes. The BB30 or Presfit30 is used to strengthen the bottom bracket area. This with the 35mm seat tubes, and the 38mm downtube, makes the bike jump forward, instead of flexing like a traditional bottom bracket does, along with giving us more room to weld to. A pressfit30 bottom bracket is almost 50% larger than a traditional. Well worth it. The complete built bike at the show and on the web site was 16.2 lbs. , and that is not even with Columbus LIFE tubes.

The double down tube bike is just cool, functional, and wont crack. It doesnt make it stronger or weaker, just different.

The feel from the bike comes front he front end and that is why we use ENVE forks, plus its just lighter, but we can make any type of steel fork that you like of course. Mix and match at your will!

Nova tubes are a great tubeset specifically designed and manufactured for them. They are economical and high quality, they just are thicker butted tubing so they add a little weight, butt the allow us to build a complete frame and fork starting at 1550.00.

The greatest asset of working with Russ is that he makes so many different styles of bikes, he is not biased to one design/concept or another. from aluminium to stainless steel, to hand cycles for disabled riders, to motorized cycles, its all under his ability, and the rider benefits.

We have all 4 models available to test ride if you are ever in the LA area.

UP NEXT will be a steel 29R. I will post some pics after the build. It will be sold as a complete bike outfitted with top components. Feel free to emiai me more info. Production date starts in one month.

Email me if you have any questions!
