This is the gym-as-nightclub, where the shots are antioxidant, the highs are exercise-induced — and no one sweats being denied entry for wearing sneakers. The perspiration, of course, comes once inside. The gym (in this case Barry’s Bootcamp) calls the event a “dance party,” but it’s actually the Kim Kardashian-beloved — and lacerating — mix of treadmill sprints and toning, this one held at 7 p.m. on Saturday and spiced up with an ’80s-style theme, with mirrored disco balls and a pair of go-go dancers clad in fluorescent spandex gyrating on a step-aerobics bench...

On a recent Saturday, Jesse Alexander, 37, a Flywheel instructor, encouraged a sellout Flatiron district class to cycle faster than they ever had before, calling out: “It’s Saturday night. You want ecstasy? This is it in its purest form.”

Over at SoulCycle, around 10 p.m., the instructor, Laurie Cole, yelled: “It’s past my bedtime, so we have to move,” before leading a heart-in-the-throat sprint up a steep hill.

Would go. No more looking for a nice girl at Barnes/Nobles/Borders/Shark Conventions.

I don't see the appeal of spin classes at all (then again I've never been to one, and probably never will), having to listen to someone else's idea of music while you think you're working much harder than you actually are because the room is so overheated. I guess it's fun if you like the same kind of music that the instructor does.

Dude I saw that in the movie theater back in the day. I had a serious thing for Jamie Lee Curtis, didn't we all. She later reprised this role in her True Lies dance scene.

Soundtrack says it all:

Side A
1."(Closest Thing To) Perfect" (Jermaine Jackson) – 3:50
2."I Sweat (Going Through the Motions)" (Nona Hendryx) – 3:54
3."All Systems Go" (Pointer Sisters) – 3:48
4."Shock Me" (Jermaine Jackson and Whitney Houston) – 5:08
5."Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do)" (Wham!) – 4:43
Side B
1."Wear Out the Grooves" (Jermaine Stewart) – 4:33
2."Hot Hips" (Lou Reed) – 3:33
3."Talking to the Wall" (Dan Hartman) – 3:59
4."Masquerade" (Berlin) – 3:48
5."Lay Your Hands on Me" (Thompson Twins) – 4:11

Being a newly divorced man, I just can't even imagine going to a gym and trying to pick up on women while feeling like all I want is a really hot shower lol.
