“I weigh 90kg, 8 more than when I was in top condition, but it’s not excess fat, just muscle, especially in my arms and trunk. My legs are perfect. I have some little pains in my knee and back, but my motor is good, and capable of standing up to this gamble.”

It is interesting that LA did not have to go under the anti doping rules before TDU.

Well reg harris came back from retirement several times and even almost got a WC medal when he was like +50 y/o if i'm not wrong.

Good for cippo

"Cipollini also grandly explained that he would make himself available for scientific research" ---finally, we can get some explanation how to be cool!

I really really hope this happens, he is sooo good for the sport.

I would love to see him in action as a leadout man. That plays completely against his character, and if he gets any inkling he actually has a hope of crossing the line first...

Yeah, right. How many times have we heard that from 45 year old guys? ;)

I hear he is bringing his own personal trainers along . . . :D

It would be fun but he doesn't have the commitment to make it happen. Silly speak, really.

Bring back the HUGE Oakley sunglasses Cipo!

I hope he does it and does well as the lead out man...but my fear is it turns into something like the Michael Jordan comeback disaster, or Brett Favre retire/unretire fiasco.

No question MJ and BF are among the greatest ever at what they did...but I just can't erase those images of MJ as an overweight bench warmer for the Wizards, or BF throwing 11 TDs and 19 INTs in his disastrous last season with the Vikings. It'd be an awful shame to watch Cipo go through the hype...only to drop out on the first mountain stage because he can't even keep up with the grupetto.

Style is back in style. Yea, baby!

I hope he can make a splash without the aforementioned Brett Favre Syndrome taking over.

If you Google Image search "mario cipollini selling shoes", see if you can find our own Mario wanna-be lurking in the mix of photos. :D

Let's see how much pull he will have with the UCI.

Needs to lose quite a bit of muscle. Such a spectacle

He will be riding the Axel Merckx Gran Fondo in July.

While I'd love to see it, I don't think it'll happen. MC don't have enough $$. Remember LA only missed the deadline by 2 weeks and stirred up a s storm.

I thought he did that routinely?

Unless he's been doing some work behind the scenes, his comeback might not get too far: http://inrng.com/2012/03/game-over-for-super-mario/

I'd buy a ticket to italy to see the Giro if he rides. If he unloads in the first few stages maybe he'll have the gas.

Deals dead. Was never live actually...

Cipo didnt communicte at all with the team and frankly the boss of the team is acting like a guy might act in the case he served as another guys servant but now has the chance to be the master.

Luca lead Mario around for a lot of wins and is pretty pissed that Mario didnt at least discuss it first.

Funny part is Mario probably NEVER actually meant this to be anything more than good publicity and Luca was just never as slick a person as he's always thought... A wise man would have said "we're in the talking stages now (now being the second he heard about it) and we'll have to see"...

Instead he shows his petty side and knee jerks...

Would be cool, if it actually happens, which seems doubtful. He must be bored.

"I promise, this year I ride all the way to Paris!", and "I promise, I will ride up hill's steeper than .01%."
