I've talked about this before I think. Let' say I'm selling a rear derailleur. I advertise it as being in like new condition and am asking a very reasonable price for it, with a money back guarantee.
10 Got pics? (this is actually #1)
9. Got close-ups of the pulleys?
8. How many miles?
7. How old/what year was it made?
6. Are you the first/original owner?
5.Has it ever been rebuilt?
4.Any nicks or scratches?
3. Why are you selling it?
2. What kind of bike did you have it on?
And the number one inquiry I get, the one I'll respond to the quickest, the one I look for first:
"I'll take it! How should I pay you?"

#11. Willing to part it out?

I could never, never, ever understand the question: "why you selling?"

Are they expecting you to say "cause it ride like crap, it creaks, and it's poor performing ?"

Some 50 unrelated one line responses where the central question is unanswered with improper punctuation and grammar, indicative of people who have the attention ADHD span of a gnat and perhaps some external pharmaceutical or substance influence.

"I have a ______ and a ______. Do you think your ________ is compatible with my _______? " *

*maybe not so much here since most people seem to know what they're doing but definitely on some other forums!

"Why are you selling it?" can be very useful inquiry. The seller may indicate: their motivation, their experience--good or bad--with the item. And then sometimes the response is innocuous: "I am clearing out stuff. It didn't fit. Etc."
